Duathlons are not on top of Kristin’s priority list. But if the races fit to her race schedule she usually does them. Oberursel was a perfect preparation for the upcoming season so she added the competition on short notice to her program.
Kristin who prepares for the Ironman race in Nice is not yet in the form to run the first 10 km of the German championships in the leading position. Beside that her training does not focus on those kind of challenges. With a gap of one minute she changed to the second discipline. She did not get a lot of support from the competitors around her but she had company. After the 40 km on the bike she could overtake those athletes she rode with but Scheffler and Schulz were too far away. It was enough for a 3rd place overall in the women’s race. All in all it was Kristin’s 4th place under the top 3 at the German duathlon championships in a row.
“Beginning of spring my form was not that strong as I focused on finishing my studies after last year’s season. In the meantime I feel better and I thing I will reach my level of 2012 pretty soon”, so Kristin after the race in Oberursel.
